Calvin Lands Nine on All-MIAA Men's Soccer Team – Hunter Olson Named MIAA Most Valuable Player
Congratulations to Hunter Olsen, Ian Adams and Mason Smith.
HUNTER OLSON- Conference Player of The Year
A midfielder, Olson is making his third straight appearance on the All-MIAA First Team. He has 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. He has 42 goals, 24 assists and 108 points in his career. Earlier this fall he received MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors. He is ranked sixth on the Calvin career list in goals and eighth on the Calvin career list in points.
IAN ADAMS- 1st Team All MIAA
A forward, Adams is making his first appearance on the All-MIAA First Team after earning spots on the All-MIAA Second Team in 2016 and 2018. A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Adams has seven goals, 17 assists and 31 points on the year. He has led the nation in total assists for much of the 2019 season. Earlier this fall he was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week. Adams has career totals of 28 goals, 45 assists and 101 points. He now shares the Calvin career record for assists with Joey Barone. He is one assist shy of matching his own Calvin single-season assist record. He is ranked 10th on the Calvin career list in points.
MASON SMITH- First Team All MIAA
A native of Flint and a graduate of Flint Powers Catholic High School, Smith is receiving All-MIAA First Team honors for the first time. An outside back on defense, Smith was recently named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. He has helped Calvin produce eight shutout victories this year. Smith has also joined the Calvin attack this season and contributed a pair of assists.
